Five new family day care homes

30/06/2008 9:37:00 AM
In the last six months five Parkes women have taken up a fantastic business opportunity and now run their own small business from home.

Vanessa Sayer, Amy Cheney, Monique Rice and Laura Nash are all now providing Family Day Care from their homes and Lois Hart has returned to Family Day Care after taking 12 months break from the service.

All five are registered carers with Parkes/Forbes Family Day Care which means that while they are self employed they receive support and training from the qualified Family Day Care Coordination Unit Staff.

Vanessa, Amy, Monique, Laura and Lois bring with them a range of qualifications and experience in the early childhood field.

All have previously worked in the field and have undergone orientation training with the Coordination Unit prior to commencing their Family Day Care services.

There are a variety of reasons why the five women have taken up this opportunity but all agree being able to work while still being at home for their own families and being able set their own working hours and their own fee structures is not something you come across very often when looking for a job.

Family day care is a professional home-based childcare service operating in Australia for over 30 years.

It is an accredited (with the National Childcare Accreditation Council), fully licensed and monitored child care service.

It offers families:

* Small group sizes with the attention of one consistent, trusted carer

* a familiar, regulated and safe home environment for children from birth to 12 years

* structured daily routines with play-based learning experiences tailored to your child’s developmental stage and interests

* flexible hours that can be negotiated to suit the family's needs

* affordable rates with full Child Care Benefit and the Australian Government's Tax Rebate

Coordination unit staff visit carers on a regular basis to ensure carers are maintaining a safe and healthy environment, to assist carers with their service and to ensure children are happy and content in care.

The Scheme is licenced by the State Department of Community Services.

Funding for the service is provided through the Federal Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs and is conditional on the Scheme achieving continued accreditation through the NCAC Quality Assurance process.

Parkes/Forbes Family Day Care is sponsored by Parkes Shire Council.

13/08/2008 | I heard the funniest thing this week: Google Earth exists because a little man ran around with a video camera filming the entire Earth including all the towns and every single house. I think he’s related to the little man inside our refrigerators that turns off the light.
