Rugby League great Laurie Daley was guest of honour at a special function at the Parkes Leagues Club last week where he delighted and charmed the 150 guests with stories and anecdotes of his years `in the game.’

Earlier in the day he visited Middleton Public School where he spoke to the senior students before heading off to Holy Family.

At both schools he fielded questions from the excited students and took special note of the school colours of Holy Family – green – the same as is favourite club the Canberra Raiders.

After lunch it was off to Northparkes Oval where to the cheers of Parkes East Public School students he presented awards at the completion of the school’s annual athletics carnival.
