The project is a demonstration of the company’s commitment to improving the quality and reliability of power supply to the Central Slopes and Plains of New South Wales.
The transmission line will meet increasing power demands in the region, directly benefiting residents and businesses in Parkes, Manildra, Forbes and Cowra areas.
Social, environmental, technical and economic factors are all considered in determining the best way to meet community needs.
Preliminary work by TransGrid has identified three route options for the transmission line, which will run between the two pre-existing substations.
Built-up areas, National Parks and air strips are a few examples of what the planners have to consider when selecting the route.
Michael de Rome, the Senior Project Manager for the new transmission line, said that TransGrid is tapping into the community’s local knowledge.
“We’re also keen to find out what features of the project are of particular interest to people from the Central Slopes and Plains,” Mr De Rome said.
The outcomes and feedback gathered from the consultation sessions will be reviewed by TransGrid to ensure all factors are considered throughout the route selection process.
