Parkes travel to Orange tomorrow chasing an elusive victory against Orange City.
Orange City has been missing a number of key players in the NSW Country Cockatoos.
‘Their return will bolster the Lions line-up but I still feel confident with the side that has been training well this week,’ Boars Coach Fine Latu said.
There have been a number of changes to the Parkes side mainly due to working commitments for tomorrow’s clash.
Changes to the forward pack include the loss of in-form Keegan Thornhill who has been a strong lineout jumper and aggressive defender over the last few weeks.
He has been replaced by Joel Jelbart who will strengthen the scrum as second rower.
Another work horse for the Boars in recent weeks has been our own little Moses, Greg Westcott.
Although he will be missed, replacement Alex ‘The Lion’ Wilkinson will not be.
Dan Ryan cemented his position last week in first grade with a great display in defence and attack.
Latu has been confident with his choice to include young Ryan in the side, stating that Ryan is big enough and playing first grade can only improve his skills as a player.
There have been two major changes in the Parkes backline with centre Brad Waser and half back Dave Whitten out due to work commitments.
Johnny Rathbone returns to his beloved fly half pushing Matthew Hunter and David Porter back into the centres.
There is a little contention about the half back position with rumours of a come back from injured Parkes diehard Paul Moody.
Moody was injured pre-season representing Parkes in the Central West Bulls side.
He was seen at training on Tuesday night which had the local media in an absolute tizzy.
Rumours have also been circulating that Tonga Folau may fill the half back roll if Moody's fitness test tonight doesn't go well.
Winger Luke Frecklington has also been called up for Saturday's clash with the other winger being Richard Webb.
The ever consistent Timmy Lawler will again fill the fullback position.
Second grade will be looking to better their results against Orange City after a strong victory over the Lions in Round 1.
A boost to their side is the return of super coach Dave Nicholls who has been away having major surgery in Canberra.
Supporters are asked to help Dave out if he looks lost and slightly delusional. All the best Dave.
Players are reminded that there will be a bus travelling to Orange leaving from the Royal at around 10am.
Finally, the Parkes Boars would like to say that new players are always welcome even though the season is into the second round.
New players to town, or old players with the 'itch' are invited to turn up to Spicer Oval every Tuesday and Thursday night.
Although 2008 has not been a great year for the Boars, it is always great to see a strong turnout to training nights and the same jokers at every game ready for their fill of rugby.
