 Hole in one!

Hole in one!

2/07/2008 9:50:00 AM
Last Sunday Tony Hendry became the second club member this year to achieve every golfer’s dream of scoring a hole in one.

Hendry was contesting a second round match in the Jack Burch 4Ball Knockout with his brother Ian against Don Kirwan and Michael Dumesney as he stepped up to the 138 metre, Par 3 4th hole.

He watched on as he played a solid 6-iron into a cold and strong southerly wind.

‘I hit it perfectly, nice and sweet,’ Hendry said as he described the shot.

‘I watched it land on the green and take two small bounds to eventually come to rest against the flagpole.’

As the group approached the green it slowly disappeared into the hole much to Hendry’s delight.

At this stage, the irrepressible Don Kirwan finally conceded the hole.

The hole in one was the second for Hendry but his first at Parkes.

His first hole in one was scored at Kiama playing with former Parkes resident Doug Wonson and ironically, the feat also came on that course’s 4th hole.

For his achievement Hendry received recognition from state sponsor Elliott Rocke Estate with two bottles of their premium wine as well as a certificate of achievement.

He also received six golf balls including an engraved momento and his name will be recorded on the club’s hole in one honour board.

13/08/2008 | I heard the funniest thing this week: Google Earth exists because a little man ran around with a video camera filming the entire Earth including all the towns and every single house. I think he’s related to the little man inside our refrigerators that turns off the light.
