Lauren Owens wins Kata competition

2/07/2008 9:52:00 AM
Marni and Lauren Owens - members of Parkes Kyokushin Karate - participated in a Taekwondo tournament held in Dubbo last weekend.

Although the styles are very different, the Dubbo tournament gave participants from all styles an opportunity to compete in a friendly and fun environment.

Both Marni and Lauren excelled in the competition taking part in the demonstration, sparring and also the Kata (prearranged techniques).

Their instructor and coach Michelle Harmer was very impressed with their efforts.

Lauren won first place in the Kata competition and was very pleased to receive a trophy for her outstanding performance.

Kyokushin Karate is a great place for kids to not only get fit but to also learn discipline and self confidence in a safe and friendly atmosphere.

Kids classes take place on Mondays and Thursdays with the first two classes free - anyone can do karate it's just a matter of taking the time to turn up!

If you'd like to know more about Kyokushin Karate please phone Michelle Harmer on 6863 4335.
