A grade - Round 13
Eddie Poons 30 def Luke Swindles 20; Ross 26 def Peebles 24; McClearys 33 def Rosewarns 17; Mat Swindles 28 def Alex Poons 22.
Last round of this competition tomorrow night, and whilst the top four teams look to be determined, the placing’s will depend on this week’s scores.
Peebles maintain the lead, by just one point over Ross 345-344.
McClearys now sit in third place after a huge 33 points accumulated last week over Rosewarns.
They have a seven point advantage over Alex Poons 338-331.
Likewise the back draw will rely on the scores tomorrow night to sort out the best placings.
Luke Swindles on 319, and Eddie Poons on 317 striving to top the back draw.
Rosewarns on 304, and Mat Swindles on 302 fighting for the wooden spoon.
Six matches going to five game deciders, five matches quick 3/0 wins, mixed in with three 3/1 finishes, add two matches ending with players retired hurt, and to top the mixture off, one match resulting in a nine point to one finish.
Two of the captains duels amongst the five game finishes.
Alex Poon had one of his toughest contests of late - Mat Swindle giving Alex some strong opposition.
Whilst Mat won two games 17/15 and 15/12 - the three he lost were very low scoring 4/15, 7/15, 6/15.
Tony Ross and Elton Peebles shared points five each in round six, so no comparison for the second match up prior to the game last week.
It proved to be great contest, games going turn about, both players a little short of squash action over the past three weeks, putting them in an equal situation.
Tony finally prevailed 3/2 and points wise too 66-65.
Jacob Cowling had the lead 2/1 over Craig Macaulay and looked a chance to end Craig’s unbeaten run in this competition.
But as he did the previous week saved his best to last, and saved his dominant record on the two line to win the last two games.
Matt Rogan was in a ruthless mood in his match against Luke Williams.
Last time they played it was a five game decider but last week Matt wrapped up a quick 3/0 victory 15/9, 15/13, 15/6.
Luke showed more speed leading out the door, home, than he did on the court.
Do doubt Matt has exceptional squash skills on the court, we just need him (or his team does) to exercise some of his scoring/refereeing skills each week.
Congratulations and best wishes to Jo Patterson on her engagement last week to Rick Cabban.
Jo makes the weekly trek from Forbes to play in the Parkes Competion.
We all knew she’d relinquish her “swamp rat” title for a Parkes-ite lifestyle.

B grade - Round 13
Turnbulls 30 def Lees 20; Iveys 31 def Jones 19; McDermotts 27 def Bowds 23; Healeys 28 def Porters 22.
John Ivey scored a payback win last week against Mel Jones.
Mel was the victor in four last time.
This time it took John only three games to wrap up, 15/9, 15/13 and 15/13.
Glenda Morgan also reversed her first round loss to Kris Nock.
Kris won 3-1 last round, but Glenda wasted no time, finishing 3-0, 15/12, 15/6, 15/10.
It took Beau Tanswell a little bit longer to get his revenge on Joe Nash.
Beau was defeated 1-3 in round one, but last week’s match was a lot closer.
Joe did have a 2-1 lead only to be reeled back in by Beau in a nail-biting fourth game, 17/16, forcing the decider.
This was also a close encounter 15/13, eventually going to Beau.
Toby Tanks is proving to be a valuable member of his team.
Last week winning his own match 3-0, then subbing up to take on Kristen Bowd.
Kristen looked to be cruising to a 3-0 win, taking the first two games, 15/14, 15/8.
Toby claimed the next two games though, 15/11 in both, setting up the fifth.
This was also close with Toby staying ahead 15/13.
Christine Miskell and Stacey Nash had their usual hard-fought encounter.
Christine claiming the first two games 17/15, 15/6.
Then Stacey took the next two, 15/11, 15/6.
Christine’s been playing consistent squash lately and this got her over the line in the end 15/10.
Joel Cowling’s game was a bit hot and cold, but this did take him to five against Nick Joyce.
Joel points were up and down and it was Nick’s consistency that got him through 15-5, 12/15, 13/15, 15/5 and 15/10.
Luke Quinn also put in a good show against Jeff Page.
Jeff was too steady in the end though, claiming victory in five close sets 15/7, 12/15, 15/12, 8/15, 15/11.
