 Tough day at Red Bend

Tough day at Red Bend

Parkes Marist Junior Rugby League Club travelled to Forbes on Saturday to play against the Red Bend Blues for a very full day of football.

The Red Bend team were short on players so the Parkes CRT under 7s didn’t hesitate to put on a blue jumper and play against their team mates.

Finnley Neilson and Luke Noakes made running the ball look easy against a tough team and Nicholas Facchi delivered some bone-jarring tackles.

Jackson Hay was the first to score a try – well done, even if it was for Red Bend.

We saw a fantastic offload from Riley Swan trying to keep the ball in play and Nick Ingram fending off the opposition trying to make more ground for Parkes.

Ben Herring is proving to be quite a slippery little player slipping through the Red Bend forwards while being backed-up by Justin McGrath.

The under 7s were mighty in defence with great tackles made by Jack Dunn, Liam Pope, Josh Davison, Blake Whitney and Mitch Wright.

These tackles brought some ‘ooohs’ from the spectators.

Best dummy half – Luke Noakes; best tackler – Liam Pope; Maccas award – Blake Whitney; pizza award – Nicholas Facchi.

The under 8s also had an amazing game with Cooper Neilson scoring the first try and then converting it, closely followed by a try from Jackson Davison.

Matthew Aston-Brien and Elliot Scott once more showed the spectators some great tackles.

Kimeaka Evans (first of two tries) and Charlie Brennand were the next ones to put some tries on the board with some fancy footwork and pure speed.

Spencer Powell and Matthew Bermingham demonstrated some tag team tackling throughout the game.

Dillan Forrest can run with the ball slipping past half of the opposition and he can tackle as if he has been doing it for the last eight years.

Finally, Michael Murphy made a lovely offload to Lachlan Fisher so that Lachlan could score the last try of the game.

Tomorrow the under 7s kick off at 10am against Condobolin at Pioneer Oval.

A reminder to all players to arrive early for team photos, even if you are rostered off.

13/08/2008 | I heard the funniest thing this week: Google Earth exists because a little man ran around with a video camera filming the entire Earth including all the towns and every single house. I think he’s related to the little man inside our refrigerators that turns off the light.
