While the Spacemen have won two of their three games to enjoy equal second place on the ladder, their opponents were belted 52-20 at home against Nyngan and then 76-18 by Macquarie last Sunday.
In between they scored a deserved 32-28 victory at winless Forbes and showed enough to suggest they could trouble all teams on their day.
While Parkes beat Nyngan by 24 points last Sunday in their best display of the season, few would disagree that the Cowboys at home represent a difficult assignment on Sunday.
Led by representative centre Nathan Smith, veteran prop Mick Ryan and the talented Louie brothers, the Cowboys boast flair and creativity across the paddock and will be a handful for the in form Spacemen.
Parkes selectors have again named an unchanged combination for Sunday, encouraged by the way in which victory was achieved over Nyngan through a hard working and robust pack, supported by the finesse of Tom Clyburn and Pati at stand off and an enterprising set of outside backs.
The Fijian quartet were superb in engineering the win over Nyngan. They defended superbly and lifted the entire side after a pre match dressing room prayer which oozed intensity and a firm desire for a good win on home soil.
(As a footnote, Fijian players five-eight Alipate Tani, and second rower, Semisi Tora were yesterdayselected on the bench for Group 11 for the side’s Centenary Trophy clash against Group 21 in Scone on May 24. Tommy Clyburn is also in the team).
The Spacemen's will to win will be firmly tested on Sunday in what should be an entertaining, high scoring encounter.
Victory would provide the ideal platform for the Spacemen home double against Macquarie on May 25 and Forbes on June 1 as the premiership nears the half way mark in a shortened season.
