Third Grade Returns for Boars Sponsor’s Day

16/05/2008 8:07:00 AM

The Boars have not fielded a third grade side in a number of years.

This year, with inflated player numbers and many ‘old school’ players, who think they still ‘have it’, the Boars decided they would register in the grade to play in various non-competition, friendly matches against selected rivals.

Sponsors will also be given the ‘royal treatment’ with their own private hospitality tent.

They will be treated to food and beverages in an effort to say a big thank you on behalf of the club.

This week’s game against the Dubbo Rhino’s stands as Parkes’ best opportunity to post a win.

‘Despite the lop-sided scoreline last week, the side is getting better,’ commented coach Fine Latu.

‘The players are more determined than ever and we believe we can beat Dubbo this week.’

The Rhinos are one of the most improved teams in this years Blowes Cup, partly due to their Fijian imports, who have given the team plenty of spark.

They are no longer the easy beats of the competition and the Boars are going to have to be on their game this week if they hope to take home their first competition points.

A number of players are in doubt for the Boars, but it is hoped they will pass fitness tests before the match.

Matt Hunter has an extremely swollen knee after continual knocks in last weeks match, but he was hoping to be fit for the weekend.

‘I’ll be seeing the physio this week and I might also need it drained so I can play,’ commented Hunter, one of the toughest players in the club.

Come and support your local team this weekend and get them over the line, as they take on the Dubbo Rhinos. Go the mighty Boars!
